Solar Orbiter flies to Cape Canaveral
Early November 2019, Solar Orbiter was flown from Europe to Cape Canaveral, Kennedy Space Center, USA. They used a gigantic airplane, an Antonov An-124. The satellite, built by Airbus Defence and Space in the UK, spent the last two-and-a-half months in the USA for testing, fuelling and getting ready for liftoff.
Also the rocket, a United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 that will launch Solar Orbiter, has arrived. The rocket got transported by a ship called 'Rocketship' from Alabama to Cape Canaveral. Enjoy the pictures.
